Commercial prepaid maintenance can organize defined routine services and pay for them in advance under a selected time-and-mileage schedule. It is not mechanical breakdown protection, and it does not automatically cover every maintenance item, wear item, repair, or service location. The signed agreement controls the services, intervals, providers, limits, and customer responsibilities.

What matters
Benefits may be tied to specific time or mileage intervals. A missed, early, or late service can be handled differently under each agreement.
Some plans require an issuing dealer, participating dealer, or other authorized provider. Confirm the usable service network against the fleet’s operating territory.
Routine scheduled service is different from mechanical breakdown repair, damage, and normal wear. Those costs are not automatically included.
| Product | Designed to address | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Prepaid maintenance | Defined scheduled services during a selected term or mileage period | Only listed services, intervals, vehicles, and providers are included |
| Vehicle service contract | Eligible repair expense after a covered mechanical breakdown | Routine maintenance and wear are generally separate responsibilities |
| Maintenance subscription or service membership | Recurring services or discounts under a provider program | Billing, cancellation, service access, and included work may differ from a prepaid agreement |
Depending on the agreement, listed services may include oil and filter changes, multipoint inspections, selected fluid services, tire rotations, or other scheduled items. The service table and exclusions in the signed agreement control what is included.
No. Prepaid maintenance addresses defined routine services on a schedule. A vehicle service contract may address eligible repair costs after a covered mechanical breakdown. Neither should be presented as a substitute for the other.
Not necessarily. The agreement may require the selling dealer, a participating dealership, an approved provider, or prior authorization. Confirm the service network before enrollment, especially for vehicles that travel outside the dealer’s market.
The result depends on the agreement. A missed interval may affect that scheduled benefit and could also matter to separate warranty or service-contract maintenance obligations. Contact the administrator or provider before assuming the service can be used later.
Transfer, cancellation, refund, and unused-service rules vary by agreement, state, ownership change, mileage, services already used, and other conditions. Review those provisions before enrollment or vehicle disposal.
Keep unit-level records for the actual duty cycle and installed equipment. Before authorizing work, confirm the contract’s administrator, facility requirements, and separate diagnosis and repair approval steps.
Commercial prepaid maintenance availability and benefits vary by provider, state, vehicle, use, term, mileage, service interval, and enrollment method. Included services, approved providers, authorization, scheduling, recordkeeping, transfer, cancellation, refunds, unused benefits, limits, and exclusions are agreement-specific. Prepaid maintenance is not mechanical breakdown coverage or commercial auto insurance. Review the signed agreement before enrollment or service.
